What is meditation?  Meditation is awareness. In awareness, that is to say being alert and observing, we realize the being that we truly are.

Meditation is a higher state of consciousness. It is your deeper and true “self”. People who suffer from many mental anxieties have lost contact with their deeper spiritual self. The true Self.  This is the deeper part of you, the original you, that at your core is a warm and loving being. The self that has been hijacked by the emotional and reactionary egoic part of the mind that just will not stop. People behaving badly in deep emotional states can do the most stupid and harmful of things to themselves as well as those they love and cherish most. We call this unconsciousness.

So rather than meditation being something you do, meditation is simply awakening form the continuous thought stream that dominates most peoples lives. Meditation is about being. Being is about being aware of the now, or the present moment. This being present in the now is called mindfulness.
